Today the sisters at On This Day Designs...oh, I think I need to clarify something. Whenever I say "sisters" in connection with On This Day Designs or the Minardi family,  I'm including my sisters-in-law. They have been a part of my life for a long, long, um long time...almost 40 years Laurie? So where was I...oh, I remember. Today my sisters and I are starting a Novena to Mary, the Undoer of Knots.(See my sister Carolyn's blog post on Mary, the Undoer of Knots) A Novena, what? For those who don't know, and trust me I didn't always know, a Novena is praying a set of prayers over a nine day period. Usually for a special intention or purpose and can be said privately, with personal requests, or with others for a common intention like peace in Syria, or intersession for their company!

N-MaryKnots

We are praying this Novena for our company and families. We chose a Novena to Mary, the Undoer of Knots because come on, who doesn't have knots of confusion, fear, anxiety and at times feelings of helplessness. We pray God will grace us with a sense of calm and clarity within our families and in operating our business.

Let me clear up a point for any non Catholics who might be reading this -- what a Catholic really means when they say they are "praying to Mary" or a particular saint is "can you please go to Jesus and intercede for me, pretty please". We pray with them. We as Catholics know Mary and the saints do not have any power but what God gives them. The Saints are in heaven and Mary is the mother of Jesus, you don't think they aren't tight! So just as you would ask a friend to pray for you we Catholics ask friends, neighbors, priests, prayer warriors and super holy dead people to pray for us. (Disclaimer: I am in no way qualified to teach about Catholic theology or to teach on any subject for that matter!)

If you would like to add your own intentions and join us in our Novena to Mary, the Udoer of Knots the link to this particular Novena is here. We would love for you to join us!

Peace and Joy,

Sue
