St. Anthony of Padua on Clasp

$28.00

This figural medal depicts St. Anthony with the infant Jesus. It is a 1 1/4 inch bronze recast of a vintage medal of St. Anthony.  St. Anthony is frequently depicted holding the Christ Child because he was very learned on matters of the Catholic Faith and he liked to pray and study the Bible. St. Francis of Assisi was so impressed with St. Anthony’s knowledge that he entrusted the instruction of his Dominican Friars to St. Anthony who was a Franciscan friar. At one time, St. Anthony’s valuable book was stolen. When Anthony discovered it was missing, he prayed it would be found or returned to him. The thief did return the book. And that is why St. Anthony’s help is invoked when searching for  lost articles. Additionally, the deeply spiritual teachings contained in the St. Anthony’s book Sermons was so great that in 1946 Pope Pius XII proclaimed Anthony a Doctor of the Church, giving him the title “Evangelical Doctor”.
